This national campaign, USNS Harvey Milk Lives!, seeks to continue the legacy of the USNS Harvey Milk and advocate for the naming of a United States Naval vessel in honor of LGBT Civil Rights icon Harvey Milk.
We are the activists that led and organized the successful national campaign that resulted in the United States Postal Service honoring Harvey with a postage stamp and the United States Navy naming a ship in his honor.
The U.S. Navy ship in San Diego, originally named USNS Harvey Milk in 2021, was renamed USNS Oscar V. Peterson, thereby removing its dedication to LGBT Civil Rights Icon Harvey Milk.
